The Capital Area Transportation Authority Administrative Office is home to the CATA administration, a bus storage area and the maintenance department. In 2006, Moore Trosper completed a complex addition and renovation project requiring an 8,000 sf second story vertical expansion; a 1,820 sf addition to the existing first story; and a complete interior renovation of the existing 15,000 sf office building. The building expansion incorporated a variety of materials and details including metal panel systems, window wall and curtain wall glazing, skylight restoration, masonry, slate flooring, glass handrails, interior glass partitions, custom lighting, and a variety of interior finish materials all designed with high expectations for quality detailing. Execution of the architectural design not only added much needed work space, but also created a new image for CATA: one that captures the white metal panel and glass technology of bus design, along with a light and airy contemporary interior that makes the facility an exciting place to work.

Moore Trosper carefully planned a phased construction approach to minimize the disruption to staff and allow CATA to maintain operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Completing the project was further complicated by restricted space for building access, project staging and on-site storage. Despite these factors and the addition of over $200,000 in changes to the project, Moore Trosper completed all work by the original deadline: the facility’s holiday Grand Opening.
